Sausage balls: they’re great to meal prep, they’re a perfect appetizer, and they’re even a great breakfast-on-the-go! For those of you navigating parenthood, they’re also a great option to have on hand for toddlers and kids. Let’s do what we can to make life a little easier, am I right?!

Here’s my Sausage Balls recipe:

Ingredients:

    • 2 cups Bisquick baking mix
    • 2 lbs. ground breakfast sausage
    • 1 lb. shredded cheddar cheese
    • Milk, as needed

Thoroughly mix the Bisquick, ground sausage, and shredded cheese.

Add in splashes of milk to the mixture, and mix well to combine. You’re looking for a consistency that comes together just so – it should be a gummy texture – not too dry, and not too wet.

Scoop bite-sized amounts and roll into balls – about the size of a golf ball.

Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes until cooked through.

Serve immediately, or, you can refrigerate for a week (if they last that long!) or freeze for up to three months (defrosting as needed when ready to eat/serve them.)

And, it wouldn’t be a true “recipe” of mine without a few notes:

    • I highly recommend shredding your own cheese from a block, but you can absolutely use the pre-shredded variety.
    • I prefer to mix these with clean hands to feel the consistency, but of course you can use a mixing spoon.

If you try this recipe, I’d love to hear what you think!
